Remodeling the kitchen.
Countertops and cabinets, ovens and back splashes. The need to turn ugly or worn things into something new and vibrant is powerful. When you do it yourself rather than relying on another it adds value to the experience, creating a sense of mastery. Cost is of course a factor, but more important is the sense of engagement and personal value. So too is the sense of shared accomplishment since people rarely do the work entirely alone. Remodeling builds a sense of community. It reestablishes filial bonds. This was shot in KC, MO over the life of the kitchen remodeling project. It was part of a larger remodeling project.
