This year we decided to spend Valentine’s Day as a family and with friends. We met up with another couple who has three children (we have one child). We went to lunch (local-family owned pizza bar) and then took the kids to a local indoor play arena. Both places allow children to be loud, allowing the parents more time to hang out vs. correcting their children’s public behavior. The children spent most of their time together at the water table. Then the Dads and boys split from the Moms and girls. The guys went to the foam factory and spent two hours shooting each other with giant Nerf blasters. The girls went into “Imagination Land” and played “life”: house, grocery store, pizza parlor, bank, etc. After saying good-bye for the day each family went home with tired children, allowing for “adult time” without having to hire a babysitter.
